The organizational meeting of the Scientific Equipment & Furniture Association (SEFA) was held in 1988.  Over the past 35 years SEFA has grown and evolved from a 20 member North American association of lab furniture manufacturers to a global industry association consisting of 161 of the world’s largest, most prestigious lab furniture manufacturers, dealers, installers, architects, lab planners and engineers located in 27 different countries.

Believing that the proper lab furniture and appropriate enclosures add a blanket of safety in the lab environment, SEFA has made it their mission to promote the use of “Lab Grade” furniture, fixtures and related equipment.
